Healthy Livestock Project

Healthy Livestock Project

The aim of HealthyLivestock is to contribute to fighting antimicrobial resistance (AMR), by reducing the
need to use antimicrobials in swine and poultry. Strengthening biosecurity, enhancing animal resilience,
early disease detection methods and more targeted medication will help decrease antimicrobial use and
consequently reduce antimicrobial resistance.

Best practices identified by the project and its findings:

Biosecurity tool for pigs
Biosecurity tool for Broilers
Health plans for pig farms
Health Plans for poultry farms
Enrichment environment in pig farms
Probiotic use to improve resilience
Peri-hatching alternative systems
Elevated platform in poultry farms
Early detection systems in pig farms
Targeted application of alternatives to antibiotics
